About Me
Software developer in Calgary, AB, Canada. Core value: automation.
Who I am
I'm Tan Le, a software developer with many years of experience building production applications, RESTful APIs, and data pipelines — primarily in C#/.NET, Python, and SQL Server. These days most of my work sits at the intersection of backend engineering and AI: I design and operate LLM-powered systems that run in daily production, not demos.
Before moving to Canada, I spent six years at HSBC delivering 24/7 payment systems in a regulated, audit-driven banking environment — including a core-card repayment gateway that scaled from 100K to 1M daily transactions and earned a CEO Recognition Award. Earlier, at FPT Information System, I helped build the iHRP payroll and HR platform used by 50+ major clients.
What I do best
- AI in production: multimodal LLM email classification (fine-tuned GPT-4o-mini on a self-built labelled dataset), interchangeable OpenAI/Gemini backends behind a single JSON contract, and defensive LLM-output parsing so one malformed response never breaks a batch.
- Backend & integration: .NET / ASP.NET Core, Python, RESTful APIs, event-driven architecture, Hangfire background jobs, and integrations across 10+ third-party systems (POS, banking APIs, Gmail, Slack, Google Sheets).
- SQL at scale: query optimization and index design over 130M+ row tables — including a ~10x I/O reduction on a synchronization procedure by replacing a 13GB clustered-index scan with targeted covering and filtered indexes.
- Front-end when the job needs it: React (built a multi-tenant feature-entitlement UI gating pages and fields by subscription), Blazor (workforce-management system), Vue.js (banking payment gateway), and Angular.
- Cloud & DevOps: Azure (App Service, Functions, Logic Apps), AWS (EC2, Lambda), Docker, and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
Certifications
- Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Entry Certificate in Business Analysis (ECBA)
